Noakes in the Archives

Following his recent retirement, Professor Tim Noakes, UCT Emeritus Professor of Exercise and Sports Science, donated his personal archives to Special Collections in UCT Libraries as a research resource. The formal signing of the Deed of Gift for the Tim Noakes Papers took place as part of UCT Libraries’ inaugural Research Engagement Evening on 17 April 2015 at which Professor Noakes was the guest speaker. Have you heard? The UCT Postgraduate Research Expo is taking place Friday 17 April from 12 – 4pm in the Library Learning Lounge.

The Expo creates an opportunity for postgraduate students from all disciplines to present their scientific and creative work in the form of a research poster. Celebrating excellence in research, creative activity and scholarship – the expo will showcase the best of postgraduate study!

This presentation by the eResearch Centre will cover what eResearch is, what the eResearch Centre offers and how researchers can engage with the Centre to enhance their research through specialised IT services.

Research Week Opening

Join us as we celebrate the Opening of Research Week 2015 on Wednesday 15 April from 9am – 11am.

Our speakers for this event are: Ms Gwenda Thomas (Executive Director, University Libraries), Professor Francis Petersen (DVC Institutional Innovation), Associate Professor Suellen Shay (Dean: CHED), Professor Anton le Roex (Dean: Faculty of Science) and a member of the UCT Student Representative Council.

With the annual UCT Libraries Research Week at hand, the library is gearing up for the influx of postgraduate researchers from across the university. On Monday 13 April, Emerald publishing will kick off Research Week with an author workshop. The workshop will introduce researchers to a series of academic guidelines touching on research methodologies, stylistic resources and criteria required by international journals for publishing.
