LIS competency index: a first for the higher education sector in SA

Posted by Zera Day in Publishing

A heartfelt congratulations to UCT Libraries’ very own Jayarani Raju on the publication of her research! More information below the cut.

This is a research-based outcome of an NRF-funded project aimed at developing a national LIS professional competency index for the higher education sector in South Africa.
May be used by:
i)LIS employers and employees to benchmark existing competencies and to ascertain the need for further knowledge and skills acquisition;
ii) LIS educators for curriculum review and revision; and,
iii) LIS researchers, as a basis for further research.
This index provides a national benchmark for higher education library professionals and lays the base for other sectors and is a treasure trove for further research.”  Christine Stilwell, Emeritus Professor and Fellow, Information Studies, School of Social Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal
